From the ‘Concerns’ Desk ... November 2006
‘No words to say, no words to convey, this feeling inside, I have for you…’ Tracy Chapman sings.
When I come out with the second issue of www.artconcerns.com, these lines reverberate in my mind. How can I express my gratitude for the art fraternity of India that helped me to make this site a phenomenal success with the first issue itself?
I would like to thank each and everyone in the contemporary Indian art scene. Thank you. The team of www.artconcerns.com promises that it will always try to keep its standard high.
The second issue is rich with the interviews of Sanjeev Khandekar by Chintan Upadhyaya and international photographer Waswo X Waswo by Amrita Gupta Singh. In her column Uma Nair forwards a critique on the price rigging in Indian art market. Mrinal Kulkarni and Rashika Ojha looks at two major exhibitions held recently in Delhi.
Noted painter MS.Prakash Babu remembers his mentor late Somenath Hore. Anuradha Nambiar’s essay tackles with the issue of Museum Discourse, while artist Gigi Scaria, in his essay deals with a book that has influence him a lot. A feature on the Indo-Korean art project ‘Hybrid Trend’ is also presented. Internationally acclaimed critic Richard Dyer has written an essay on the video works of Clement Page.
The news section has some interesting items, which you would like to know. And the gallery section proudly presents two latest works of Tanmoy Samanta.
I have attempted two Close Ups this time- K.P.Reji and George Martin. Both of them are having solo shows in Mumbai during this fortnight.
In the cover story I have made a search for those artists who have done something more than art.
Yours,
JohnyML
