G. Anjaneyulu |
Born in 1976, Garideppally, Nalgonda District, Andhra Pradesh, G.Anjaneyulu received his BFA in painting from JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad. Equipped with tremendous skill and artistic imagination Anjaneyulu during his formative years painted all what he saw around. His interest in people and their postures and gestures in life situations is converted into thought provoking paintings. His recent series of paintings shows objects from day to day lives. They are mostly tools. He says that his interest in tools comes out from his deep involvement with the nearest and mundane. He would like to transcend their object value into aesthetic value.
About childhood days…
“I was born to Laxmamma and Satyam. We are five siblings. Two of my brothers, Avinash and Srinivas have artistic talents. Avinash is working as an animation director now with a well known news channel in Andhra Pradesh. During my childhood Srinivas was working as a commercial artist in a near by town. I used to help him in his works. This gave me to develop my skills. After my schooling, I decided to pursue a career in art.”
How was his art education like?
“I did not know much about art schools in India. After my schooling I came to know about the Fine Arts Faculty at the JNTU, Hyderabad. So I enrolled myself as a graduate student there and completed the course in painting.”
Who and what inspired him during his college days?
“I am indebted only to the library of my college. I went through so many artists and the works of the masters through books. I was interested in Kathe Kollwitz, Gustav Klimt and so on. I was also interested in the works of my seniors like K.Venkateswara Rao and Brahmam. They are not in the profession any more.”
What about his style?
“I am not particularly interested in any style. I have never tried to follow one kind or one style of painting. I have been doing my works as sincerely I can. If at all you find a particular style in my work that is evolved in due course of time. I am not too conscious or worried about the concept of style.”
How does he describe his new works?
“I have written a somewhat long piece on my recent works. I would say that, the recent works are an attempt to revisit what I have seen or experienced earlier.”
What does he think about art market?
“As an artist, all my effort is to produce works of art. Art market is a reality though I have not made my mark in the market. If market provides the artists with money and comfort, I feel it is good.”
Where would he find himself in coming two years?
“I am working. I don’t think I will deviate from my path. Sincerely speaking, I am trying to generate better works in the coming years.” |
