Fairy Tales from a Lost Land at OED Basement, Kochi

OED Gallery, Kochi presents the solo show of K.T.Mathai, an artist based in Kochi. Titled ‘Fairy Tales from a Lost Land’, this show is curated by JohnyML. Mathai has been working on the issue of land exploitation by local, national and multinational mafias, for the last few years. In the new set of paintings and watercolors, Mathai articulates the life of a village, which is losing its purity and sanctity through environmental exploitation. “I met this artist, two years back and I found he is one of the genuine artists in India, who works with a sort of intensity, which has become so rare amongst the mainstream artists,” says curator, JohnyML. The show will be on from 13th December 2008.

Thanks to unavoidable reasons the sixth edition of Video Wednesday@ Gallery Espace is pre-poned to 10th December, the gallery sources informed. The sixth edition will have the videos of N.Pushpamala and K.M.Madhusudhanan.

Contemporary Drawings at Art Motif, New Delhi

Art Motif, Lado Sarai, New Delhi presents a show on Contemporary Drawings. The first part of the show open on 14th December 2008 with the works of K.M. Adimoolam, Veena Bhargava, Jyoti Bhatt, Amitava Das, Delna Dastur, Gopi Gajwani, Satish Gujral, Ganesh Haloi, Ambadas Khobragade, Achutan Kudallur, Ram Kumar, Mala Marwah, Madhvi Parekh, Manu Parekh, Nagji Patel , Sudhir Patwardhan, Mona Rai, Chameli Ramachandran, Lalu Prosad Shaw, Laxman Shreshtha, K.G. Subramanyan, Arpita Singh, Paramjit Singh and Jai Zharotia.

The second part which is slated to open in January 2009 will have the works of Vishakha Apte, Kriti Arora, Suddhasattwa Basu, Manjari Chakravarti, Arindam Chatterjee, Mustak Khan Chowdhury, Samit Das, Nicola Durvasula, Neeraj Goswami, Shobha Ghare, Vanita Gupta, Manjunath Kamath, Niyeti Kannal, Sheila Makhijani, Dilip Ranade, Yogesh Rawal, Tanmoy Samanta and John Tun Sein.

Shahid Datawala at Seagull Foundation, Kolkata

The latest works of the famous photography artist, Shahid Datawala are presented in a solo show titled ‘Shadow Boxing’ at Seagull Foundation Kolkata. It is a joint presentation with Tasveer.
