Mumbai Kalaghoda Art Festival would present two grand works by the noted artists N.S.Harsha and Natraj Sharama. Harsha’s works is titled ‘A Mirage’ and Natraj Sharma’s work is titled ‘Alternative Shapes for the Earth’. The installation A Mirage created by N.S. Harsha, is a life size model of the French fighter jet, Mirage 2000 mounted on a platform of sleeping figures. Attempting to cement a linearity between form and material, the Jet swathed in white Khadi, combines two powerful symbols of Indian arsenal. Khadi symbolizing tolerance and non-violence in contrast to the Mirage which firmly stands as a symbol of power and aggression. The Khadi clad Mirage placed atop a myriad imagery of people in various positions of sleep forms a veritable tapestry of identities which stirs uneasy thoughts on notions of the relationship between 'the protector' and 'the protected' . The works will be on view from 3rd February 2007.
