Mother and Child by K.P.Reji

The Guild Gallery at Arts Singapore

Guild Gallery, Mumbai will present the young artists Prajakta Potnis and K.P.Reji ARTSingapore, In two different solo shows titled ‘Membranes and Margins’ and ‘Good Earth’ respectively, these show will feature the latest works by these artists. The shows will open on 4th October and will continue till 8th October 2007.

View from the Other End: Roy Thomas at Kitab Mahal

Delhi based artist Roy Thomas’ will present his first Mumbai solo at the Kitab Mahal Gallery, Mumbai on 10th October 2007. Presented by Arushi Arts Gallery, Delhi, this show will be on view till 13th October. Roy Thomas, educated at the Trivnadrum Fine Arts College and Delhi College of Art has exhibited widely and his works are collected in various prestigious museums including the Fukuoka Museum, Japan. Taking images and references from various sources, Roy interprets them through his personal perspective and makes sharp comments on the socio-political issues.

Rathin Kanji at Threshold Gallery, New Delhi

Noted artists Rathin Kanji’s solo titled ‘Urban Extents’ opened in Delhi Sridharani Art Gallery. Presented jointly by Threshold Gallery, Delhi and Aicon Gallery, London, the show will be on till 1st October 2007. “A very strong human presence can, however, be perceived in the deeply personal import of the assembled elements within Kanji’s paintings,’ notes Anirudh Chari in the catalogue forward.

And when She Roared the Universe Quaked: Gallery Chemould

A new set of paintings and video installations of the noted artist Shakuntala Kulkarni will be presented by the Gallery Chemould at its Prescott premises. The show will open on 12th October and will continue till 30th October 2007.

An artist namely PKRI will be presenting his paintings at the Kitab Mahal Gallery from 4th to 6th October 2007. Maybe I need to get my head checked, but I wake up with different painting strokes different days. Sometimes that is a difficulty, but sometimes that a great weapon. I cannot help it coming out in my art, though I tried hard to keep it similar. They say it’s the ‘propah’ thing to stick to one style/theme, especially in an exhibition. But then, I am doing this for fun..” says the artist.

Art:21- Art in the Twenty First Century

A two part film screening on Twenty First Century Art will be held at the Mohile Parikh Centre, Mumbai on 5th October 2007.  This event is part of Art21 Access '07 an international celebration of contemporary art and creativity presenting more than 300 events in 25 countries, and on all seven continents, in October, the month of Arts and Humanities. The screening will start at 4 pm and it will be followed by an interactive session.

Gayatri Gamuz at Hacienda Gallery

Thiruvannamali based Spanish-Indian artist Gayatri Gamuz will present her latest works in a solo show at the Hacienda Gallery, Mumbai. Curated by Jasmine Shah Varma, this exhibition showcases the works that deal with the depleting environment at the hands of the plastic culture.

Gargi Raina at Bodhi, Mumbai

Bodhi Art Gallery, Mumbai presents a semi retrospective of the Baroda based artist Gargi Raina from 8th to 25th October 2007. Titled ‘Constructing the Memory of a Room’ this exhibition will have the works done between 2001 and 2007 by the artist.

Walter D’ Souza at Art Alive, Gallery, New Delhi

Noted artist Walter D’Souza’s solo exhibition titled ‘Ticket to Ride’ opened at the Art Alive Gallery, New Delhi on 22nd September 2007. The show will be on till 3rd October 2007.

Faces of Indian Art: Nemai Ghosh

A grand book of pictures that features the lives and times of the masters of Indian art will be launched by the Art Alive Gallery on 4rd October 2007 at Taj Mahal Hotel in New Delhi. The book comprises of the photographs taken by the famous photographer Nemai Ghosh. The book launch will be attended by the artists featured in the book.
