Paris’ Nuit Blanche
An evening of culture organised by Paris’s town hall
Night of the 6-7th October 2007
From 7pm until late
- Thierry Farcy (artist, but also a doctor) will present a video which will be accompanied by a performance in the street in front of the gallery.
After his first retrospective exhibition at the Alençon Fine-Arts museum last January, Thierry Farcy is continuing his research on human beings, with his ephemeral installations made of ice. These ice heads, soaked in gouache of different colors, will be placed on a huge sheet of paper on the sidewalk of the rue Vaneau. Throughout the evening they will melt onto this support, creating an abstract composition.
The video Chair(s) disparu(es) (Dear Departed), tackles the theme of violence and war. It shows heads made from ice on the site of the Normandy landings. These heads melt slowly onto the sand, and as they do, hair appears suggesting the animal side to all human beings. Suddenly, flames will devour these heads, in the same way that flames from the bombings not so long ago exhausted the land. This finale brings to mind a type of catharsis.
- Bose Krishnamachari (Indian artist who lives in Bombay) will present a previously unseen work which is halfway between an installation and a painting.
Recently the French public discovered works by this artist not only at the
Lille festival The Bombaysers, but also in Paris during the India! exhibition at the gallery in April. For the Nuit Blanche, Krishnamachari will present his works in France once more.
